Ironically, this utopian system would be ideal for the survival of democracy and the welfare of citizens: transparency, political balance, citizen oversight, and limits on financial power secure trust and prevent long-term destruction of democratic institutions. Without such reforms, existing structures could slowly corrode the system from within, provoke public resentment against political elites, and destabilize the country.<\/p>\n

Only through direct citizen involvement, such as Swiss-style initiatives, would the system function sustainably, because people would participate directly, exercise oversight, and ensure political balance\u2014things currently blocked by the entrenched power blocs in the US system.<\/p>\n
